Hey you’re back and I’m back and THAT’s a fact! I am so excited that summer is almost here and when you see this video, summer will be here…You just get this feeling and it is amazing, so I am super excited, and you’re super excited! But do you know what can dampen that excited feeling? Pain.
Chronic Pain. A lot of the time I deal with people who live with chronic pain. Now this is not the kind of pain where you have a broken ankle where you are going to be ok after it heals, but chronic pain like arthritis; there are so many different kinds of arthritis and sometimes you don’t even know you have it. Pain in the neck, back pain…it is never a good time for your back to go out. If you are having these kinds of pains the best thing is exercise. You have to stretch and move. Many times my clients go to the chiropractor and the doctor always tells them: I hope you are getting out and getting some exercise. Weight bearing exercise and walking are great or sometimes just stretching. If you try just stretching for 10 days I want you to notice how much better you will feel. Mobility and range of motion improve so much with stretching.
Make sure you talk with your doctor if you have concerns about what types of exercise you should try if you live with chronic pain. Normally just stretching is great for a body that is in chronic pain. For people with degenerative disc disease or other chronic pain diseases, it is always there and you have to learn to work with it. There are a lot of ways to deal with chronic pain. If you choose surgery your doctor will probably tell you to start with a good workout and I want to help you with a routine that will work with you and your specific needs. You need to just getting used to moving, we need to straighten those muscles out. You must continue to move. It doesn’t have to be a hard workout, it can be low impact, but you will find a difference if you just let me help you with that pain in your neck or your pain in your back, I really want to help you.
Please send me an email and tell me about your pain. It may be chronic pain and we need to get you to see a doctor sometimes to get you moving in the right direction.
So I want to share with you ways you can start moving. The most common pain I hear about is sciatica which usually starts in the middle of your back and shoots down the leg. It is very uncomfortable. One of the best things you can is march. Very easy. You can even do this while you watch TV, it can really help a lot. If you are having pain in your hands Karen is going to show you an easy stretch for your arthritic hands. Bringing your leg up and leaning forward on the floor will be a good stretch for your glutes and abs.
I know you can do this. Just because you have chronic pain doesn’t mean that you can’t thrive!
