Children love participating in sports. It’s fun. It teaches them to collaborate in a team and most importantly it gives them a nice place to move their bodies. However, to prevent injuries it is important for parents to be aware that conditioning their children with exercise and good nutrition is a valuable component to playing in sports. This conditioning should be year round and not just during the sport season in order keep your child safe and help them have the mental and physical balance they need to succeed.

With conditioning there are several benefits that will help your child to have a lifestyle of wellness which will aid them to have a healthy and happy life.

Here are some benefits:

  • Gio is building up his legs! Go Gio!

  • Improves body composition
  • Improves insulin sensitivity

Make sure to ask your child’s coach about the 4 seasons of training:

  1. Post Season
1-3 months following season meant to focus on resting mentally and physically so your child can heal and not get burnt out.
  2. Off Season
4-6 months after post season where improving strength, flexibility, and endurance are intensely focused on to prevent injury.
  3. Pre-Season
1-2 months before the Season changes should be made to workouts to make sure that your child will peak during the sport season.
  4. Regular Season
Anaerobic and Aerobic trainings should take place 4-6 days per week to make sure de-conditioning doesn’t happen. Also weight training 2 times per week will help your child stay strong.
