Hey Everybody! Its Karen from Wellness Works NW I want to ask you a question: How tall can a tree grow? What a silly question. What do you mean? As tall as its supposed to be. This is kind of like what you are trying to do by making weight loss goals or exercise goals or trying to handle your chronic illness. You can do it! I know you can thrive.

You can thrive because you are going to put it in your mind to thrive. We need to get your motivated to do it. We gotta get you thinking about that tree. That tree just makes it happen. I know you can make it happen too!
There are all kinds of distractions out there but the tree just keeps growing until it is as tall as it is supposed to be. You are going to do this too but those distractions that come along, they are going to come. Especially when it comes to food, being a foodie, I understand how that can be. When you get distracted and drop the plan you need to have a plan to go back to because it helps you get back on track. You will forgive yourself and get right back up and keep going towards your goals.

Studies show that people get motivated to lose weight and make a plan and then that motivation wanes because of the maintenance of it. Once you’ve lost 12 lbs or 20 lbs, whatever your goal is, you have to maintain it. You have to remember the tree. That tree is going to keep growing and you can’t let anybody stunt your growth and this means making new decisions. That might mean choosing new recipes, and other changes that you have to make so that you can be successful and I am here to help you remember those goals. Nobody every tells a tree that it is not going to grow. Don’t let them tell you, you can’t grow and keep making your wellness goals. You have to set your why and make decisions to reach it.

I know you are sitting there thinking about your why and I want you to know that you can do it. I want you to grow and grow and grow until you have gotten as tall as you can be. While you are growing you are going to take care of your core because it is one of the most important areas that you need to work on. Your core is your abslower back and your glutes. You want to make sure you are exercising those areas so that you can make your core stronger. It doesn’t matter what sport you choose whether it is running or racket ball or whatever you enjoy, a strong core is going to make you able to do them better.

As a matter of fact, I have my Stability Ball over here and I am going to show you some crunches. You don’t have to do crunches on the ball but when you are just getting started the ball will give your back some support and make it a lot easier to get your workout done. When you get on the ball you need to walk your feet forward until your shoulders are on the ball. People often don’t know where to put their arms but we have found out that you don’t want to put them behind your neck because that hurts the neck. Some people just leave their arms on either side of their body but I like to cross my arms and put my hands in my underarms. When you are doing your crunches you don’t have to come up all the way, but when you get as high as you want to come up you want to squeeze your glutes and abs and then come down. Come up, contract and let go.

While you are lying on the ball you can stretch out the back to elongate your spine. Go slow. Lay back against the ball and bring your arms back over your head and really stretch. It feels so good. Remember your core is very important. It very important to stretch you core, and the sides of your core as well. Just remember: The Core and So Much More and you can grow as tall as you want to grow. You can lose as much weight as you want. You can become as healthy as you want to be.

I am sending you all kinds of positive vibes and positive prayers. See you soon!
