Men’s health is just as important as Women’s health
In a million years I never thought I would be discussing men and their Testicular Health. Even though I am a bit embarrassed about talking about this, I know it is just as important for men to take care of their testicles as it is for women and their vaginas. I’m just more familiar with vaginas.
This is what I learned while researching this subject and I found a great resource for men to get all the support they need. It is called the Movember Foundation. I recommend that men check this valuable resource out. They have all kinds of support, for all kinds of different men’s health issues.

There are 8,430 new cases of testicular cancer in the US in 2015. That is scary stuff. And out of those 380 men will die. The symptoms can range from.
- Swelling or lump in either testicle (usually painless)
- A feeling of heaviness in the scrotum
- Change in the size and shape of the testicle
- Aches or pains in the lower abdomen or groin
- A sudden build-up of fluid in the scrotum
- Pain or discomfort in a testicle or in the scrotum
- Enlargement or tenderness of the breast tissue
It is so important that men check their testicles monthly. Just like women check their breasts. I found an awesome chart that will help you to do the best job possible. Learn more about Testicular Self-Examination
Here are some other things to watch out for:
- Trouble urinating
- Moles changing colors or shape
- Impotence
Final thought, I love the men in my life. I want them to take care of their bodies and value themselves as much as I value them. I don’t think I am any different than anyone else. It can be embarrassing to talk about our bodies, especially with all the ways we talk poorly about ourselves and our bodies. I hate that. So as your friend, I would like to see all men start checking their bodies. And if you find something please go to the doctor right away.
Here are my recommendations:
- Exercise. No more being a couch potato. Even if you have a chronic illness, a small amount of exercise will be good for you.
- Check your testicles on a monthly basis.
- If you find something wrong don’t question it, just go to the doctor and get the help that you need right away.
- Know your body and how much exercise you can do. You can twist your testicles and hurt yourself if you exercise too much, but you can have other issues if you don’t exercise enough.
