Hello everyone,

For today’s topic, I wanted to share an experiment I have been conducting on myself for the last month. Right now, my preliminary findings are still expanding because wellness takes time to achieve.

I discovered this product quite by accident as I was perusing a Facebook group I belong to. One of the topics our moderator shared with us is this: She has been taking a supplement called Vital Proteins Original Collagen Peptides. I shared this with my trainer, Karen G Clemenson, about a month ago, and these are a result of my findings.

After reading the reviews on Amazon and deciding to make the jump and commit myself to this experiment, I have discovered the following things:

Pros

  1. I am having less pain. After taking the recommended serving size for the first morning, I noticed that my upper arm and shoulder pains had subsided by at least 80%. I was sold. I thought..I am totally in this 100%. Since then, I have noticed the following things as noted below.
  2. My nails have grown a bit faster, and are definitely stronger. I have always has fairly strong nails to begin with, but after having had gel manicures off and on, the strength of my nails had become compromised and were breaking more frequently once I stopped getting manicures because of COVID-19.
  3. My skin is beginning to look clearer, and the fine wrinkles are fading out some. This is always a plus, no matter what age a person is.
  4. Karen has noticed that my hair appears thicker. I have always had fairly thick hair, so I never paid much attention to the volume of my hair, but I have noticed I seem to have new hairs growing in my scalp alongside of the existing hair. I may be imagining things, but time will tell.
  5. My eyelashes seem to be a little bit thicker and a bit longer. Again, this may be an optical illusion, and time will tell on this. Side note: My eyelashes have always been sparse.
  6. My eyebrows seem to be filling out in places that have been sparse… this is good news for me as well.
  7. After my workouts at the gym, I usually experience the normal soreness the following day. That soreness is now pretty minimal because the recovery time is quicker.
  8. I also have arthritis in my neck. I feel this has also help to deal with my pain more as my pain level has decreased. I will always have some pain and a decreased range of motion, but overall, I feel it has improved to some degree.
  9. It has helped me with my sleep. I am experiencing decreasing episodes of waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep. I still experience waking up too early, but the episodes are gradually decreasing.
  10. The powder is very fine and dissolves easily in water. There is a subtle flavor which I don’t mind.

Cons

  1. This can be expensive. I order mine from Amazon. The price is in the $35.00 to $40.00 range. This means if you order one 20 oz container and use 2 scoops a day, the product will last one month.
  2. It is not Vegan.

If you decide to order from Amazon, make sure you order directly from the seller, Vital Proteins, to ensure you are getting a quality product and not an imitation.

Following a friend’s recommendation, she suggested to take Vitamin C while using this as it seems to facilitate better absorption of the collagen. I am in agreement of this as well, because we are in the midst of a pandemic which is projected to get worse.
It cannot hurt to take vitamins C and D as recommended by Dr.Fauci to keep our immune systems as healthy as possible.
