Hey Everybody! It’s Karen with Wellness Works NW! Safety Starts Here and what I find out there. I have some clients out there that are saying: Forget it! Give me a cake! I’ll see you in 20 (hiccup) 21!…And then I have some clients that say they are definitely not going to meet me anywhere and they are DEFINITELY NOT going online! But you can come over!
A lot of times I meet people outside in their yard because this give us a chance to wear our masks, if that is what you do, and we can still keep that 6 ft distance. Isn’t that awesome? The wonderful thing about COVID-19 is that it has encouraged us (Wellness Works NW) to jumpstart so we can figure out how to make it. As a personal trainer, I have a hybrid business. I have some people train online, who are comfortable online, and for those of you who are online, we have a contest going! Just go to https://wellnessworksnw.com, you’ll be excited! And then I have some clients that are adamant that they will not be online. They have decided that we have to do this thing, outside. We can have up to 5 people working out with us. However I have found that when I doing that, I have to bring all my stuff.
That is what I want to talk with you about today. When I show up at your house, do not shoot me. I have my black bag that I take with me, not to mention I have weights and bands with me. In this reconditioned brief case, I have a little bit of everything. I want to make sure that people feel ok. Things are a little difficult out there, but you can’t give up. You must keep moving! In my bag I have hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes to sanitize my equipment, I have a no touch thermometer, Ziplock bags, gloves, stethoscope, I usually wear an oximeter on me and we have blood pressure monitors in 2 sized. We are ready to take care of you.
You’ve got to keep moving and Push-Ups to me are still the greatest exercise because you are your own resistance. You can do them in many different forms. You can get down on your hands and knees, if your knees will allow it, and just come down nice and easy with your arms. As you get better you may decide that you have graduated and you can get up on your hands and your toes. When you are coming down I am trying to keep my body as straight as possible and that’s right, I am squeezing my glutes! I heard someone out there saying: Are you squeezing your glutes?
Want to show you here, these wonderful bands that you can do all kinds of things. This is a medium weight, large loop band. This exercise is really good for your traps. You step on one end of it and place the other end in the groove between your thumb and index finger. Remember this? Bring your hand up a little bit to be parallel with your shoulder and extend your hand out, make sure your head is head high, then turn your hand in a small circular motion, clockwise a couple times and then counter clockwise a few times. I call this Wax-on Wax-off. Now because we do a lot of texting, with our heads down, the top of our humerus really needs to move. You can do this exercise with each hand. You don’t just want to do this exercise with one hand. At first this feels like this exercise is nothing, but you do this for a while and you can really feel it.
Now the good old Scapula Pull is one that I really like. I hold one end of the large loop band in each hand and bring it behind my back and pull the ends forward. Notice that my back is straight and my head is back. Oh that feels good. That is a good stretch.
Guys you can do anything you want to do! Know that we are going to make this happen!
I am sending you all kinds of positive prayers & positive vibes. I will see you very very soon! If you need help with your Wellness Plan please give me a call or text at 360-447-8061
