Hey Everybody! It’s Karen from Wellness Works NW! You have done it! You have decided it is time to feel better. Maybe you just went up the stairs and it wasn’t as easy as it used to be. You used to be able to do it fine, but today, half way up, you began to struggle and you are pretending it isn’t so bad, but really you know that you need to do better. You used to be able to run up those steps but you get busy with life and you forget to move and I am here to help you remember to move.
Maybe it is time for a Fitness Assessment. Are you just having trouble on the stairs or are there other parts of your wellness that you need help with. Maybe your knees are talking to you…an assessment might help you figure out what other areas need help. We make excuses for our aches and pains but really we should be seeing our doctor and consider having a fitness assessment to see where we need to pay more attention. It is very telling, because you want to know what is going on but we get busy and we forget to take care of ourselves. You work too many hours, you eat the wrong food and bam, you have a brain aneurysm. That is what happened to me. I ate fast food like you wouldn’t believe. There was a burger in each hand and I would follow it up with a Coke, but we must stop that.
I want you to make a better decision and the first step is a fitness assessment. This how we can see how things have changed. During the assessment I will talk with you about what you are doing for your health. Are you taking vitamins? Are you eating fast food? We ask other questions about how you are feeling, how are you sleeping. You would be surprised how many people are sleeping very poorly. How many times you eat per day? Do you eat breakfast? There are no wrong answers. We just want to help you figure out what goals we can set to help you feel better. We weight you and give you a proper BMI to help you see how much water, fat and muscle you have on your body to help you make your weight loss goal. Once we know your actual numbers this will help you make some important goals about your wellness. This is how we create your wellness plan. We test bicep strength to see if you are lifting correctly. Our fitness assessments are software based and we can send you home with printout to share with your husband or wife. When you can show this to your partner you can show them why you want to spend more time and resources on your health. If your partner is really analytical this might help them see why they should be more supportive.
We have another assessment that we do called an Overhead Squat. We do this to see if you can do both at the same time. We want to see how your ankles are handling the move. We take pictures while you are doing this so you can see how your body is moving. Part of your assessment, include pictures from all sides so that later on you can see your progress. I know you are thinking, I need one of those assessments, so give me a call or text at 360-447-8061 and we can set up your appointment.
If you are going to invest in yourself you need to see why you are doing that and I want to help you. I am very excited about that!
I am also excited that we are going to Move it! Move it! Move it! And today we are going to work with bands. Exercise Bands are wonderful. These are about 20 lbs of resistance. I am going to step on the middle part of this band and work on Bicep curls. You can be talking to others or doing other things while you work your biceps. You can also do Side Stretches by stepping on the band with both feet and hold your hands up to your waist and bending to one side to the other to stretch your abs. You can carry bands with you and use them at work or even with friends. It is a great way to work on you body.
Guys you can do anything! I want encourage you to get your assessments done so that we can see where you need to go and also look back at them, later, to see where you have had success. Please give me a call. I am sending you positive prayers and positive vibes. Thank you so much!
